Unico working to represent its members

The Unico Committee works throughout the year behind the scenes on behalf of its members to meet the needs of the sector through the provision of networking and best-practice sharing events, publications, training and other services and has also recently:

  • Authored “Impacts” brochure with RCUK and UUK
  • Participated in the Sainsbury Review
  • Responded to the Sainsbury Review, the EC European Research Area, the Gowers Review, and the EPSRC Knowledge Transfer and Economic Impact Strategy
  • Worked to establish useful and more accurate KT metrics, benchmarking with AUTM and the ACCA
  • Participated in the Business Support Simplification Programme
  • Contributed to HEFCE’s thinking on HEIF 4 and HEFCE’s Business and Community Committee
  • Provided DIUS with KT success stories and facts and figures which have been used throughout Government
  • Co-organised the BVCA spin-out conferences
  • Supported the first bio-showcase to industry (“Bioversity”)
  • Participated at the Microsoft business-industry collaboration meeting
  • Provided a National Science Week briefing for Parliament
  • Worked with RCUK on collecting evidence of economic impact of Research Council-funded research
  • Worked to share best practice globally with the Australian, American and Canadian KT professional organisations
  • Hosted two best-practice-sharing and networking conferences and a Directors’ Forum jointly with Praxis
